Mideast Gaza Deir Al-Balah Displaced People Life in Tent

A child of Odai Olaiwa is about to fetch water on the seaside in the city of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza Strip, November 28, 2024. Odai Olaiwa, a 35-year-old father of three children, was forced to flee from Gaza City with his family at the onset of the Gaza conflict. They transferred to the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip six months ago, huddling inside a tent on the seaside that could barely shield them from the scorch in summer or the frost in winter. Three days earlier, seawater flooded his tent and soaked his belongings. The tent was then destroyed by heavy winds, and the Olaiwa's became homeless again. They had to stay in their relatives' tent and live on food offered by local charitable kitchens. Having suffered enough, Olaiwa dearly hopes to return to Gaza City when the war is over.
